Asperger’s Syndrome (AS) is one of several disorders on the Autism Spectrum. It describes a pattern of neurological and psychological symptoms related to processing and interpreting social cues, interactions and sensory stimuli. It is estimated that approximately 1 in 300 people are currently diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome, and increasingly, people with Asperger’s Syndrome are finding their place as productive employees in the workforce. They bring with them valuable creative and technical skills. They also bring unusual mannerisms and behavioral patterns that can be a challenge to managers and co-workers.
Remember that everyone has unique behavioral patterns which do not necessarily indicate a diagnosis of Asperger’s Syndrome or any other behavioral or mental health disorder.
