Being human means that at some time during our lifetime, any one of us may be involved in a critical incident or other stressful situation — an event that has the power to overwhelm our coping skills. Sudden losses or events creating unexpected lifestyle changes, surviving natural or man-made disasters, or being in proximity to an accident involving a fatal or serious injury can leave us feeling helpless, disorientated and insecure.
